We chose the city of Cluj-Napoca for our wedding, both for its beauty, and also for practical reasons – there is an international airport with direct flights to Dublin and Brussels and various flights per day via Bucharest. Linda comes from Baia Mare, a city around 150 km to the north, and did her university studies in Cluj.
Am ales orașul Cluj-Napoca pentru nunta noastră, atât pentru frumusețea sa, cât și din motive practice – există un aeroport internațional cu zboruri directe spre Dublin și Bruxelles, precum și diverse zboruri zilnice prin București. Linda este din Baia Mare, un oraș aflat la aproximativ 150 km nord, și a urmat studiile universitare în Cluj.

Storytelling in a magical forest.
We are both people of words, and our wedding is meant to tell our story, with the people, places, and moments that mean the most to us. In the middle of a beautiful forest, that we invite into our celebration.
A Romanian wedding with an Irish twist
Romanian weddings alternate eating and dancing from the first course, there is no border between the dinner and the party. We eat, we drink and we dance, all in one!
The Irish twist is that it gets more personal and interactive, with the introduction of the speeches, as well as the famous singing and music.
Will there be a ceremony?
Yes, we will have a religious Orthodox marriage, in a tiny little chapel. Alas, since the chapel is so small, only a very limited amount of people will be able to participate. Hence why the majority of guests are invited directly to the party.
Main participants
The main roles will be held by… Linda, the Bride and John, the Groom!
Lorina and Codruț Șereș, lifelong friends of the bride and now also of the groom, will be the Godparents. They are indispensable in Romanian weddings and become the spiritual parents of the couple, having a role during the ceremony, party and throughout life.
Alexandra Sălăjan, the bride’s cousin, will be the Maid of Honour. In Irish weddings the maid of honour holds the role of supporting the bride before, during and after the wedding, something Alexandra has already been doing for many years.
James Harkin, the groom’s brother, will be the Best Man. In Irish weddings the best man is the right hand of the groom before and during the wedding, supporting him and keeping an eye that all is well and in check, something that James is by now accustomed to doing.
Ana and Mircea Moldovan are Linda’s parents, who gave her love and the freedom to become her awesome self, just for the groom, and are now happy she has met her match.
Marian Harkin is John’s mother, along with his father when he was with us, has done a wonderful job in raising the groom, strong, loving, and some might say, a good cook, all for the bride.
Ziua Nunții noastre
Povestire într-o pădure magică.
Suntem amândoi oameni ai cuvintelor, iar nunta noastră este menită să spună povestea noastră, cu oamenii, locurile și momentele care ne sunt cele mai dragi. În mijlocul unei păduri frumoase, pe care o invităm în sărbătoarea noastră.
O nuntă românească și cu un strop irlandez
Nunțile românești alternează mâncarea și dansul încă de la primul fel, nu există o delimitare între cină și petrecere. Se mănâncă, se bea și se dansează, trei în unul!
Stropul irlandez constă în nota mai personală și interactivă, prin introducerea discursurilor și a cântatului.
Va fi o ceremonie?
Da, vom avea o căsătorie religioasă ortodoxă, într-o capelă micuță. Din păcate, deoarece capela este așa de mică, doar un număr foarte limitat de persoane vor putea participa. De aceea, majoritatea invitaților sunt chemați direct la petrecere.
Participanții principali
Rolurile principale vor fi deținute de… Linda, mireasa și John, mirele!
Lorina și Codruț Șereș, prieteni de-o viață ai miresei și acum și ai mirelui, vor fi Nașii. Ei sunt indispensabili în nunțile românești și devin părinții spirituali ai cuplului, având un rol în timpul ceremoniei, petrecerii și pe tot parcursul vieții.
Alexandra Sălăjan, verișoara miresei, va fi Domnișoara de onoare. În nunțile irlandeze, domnișoara de onoare are rolul de a susține mireasa înainte, în timpul și după nuntă, lucru pe care Alexandra îl face deja de mulți ani.
James Harkin, fratele mirelui, va fi Cavalerul de onoare. În nunțile irlandeze, cavalerul de onoare este mâna dreaptă a mirelui înainte și în timpul nunții, sprijinindu-l și având grijă ca totul să fie bine și în ordine, lucru cu care James este deja obișnuit.
Ana și Mircea Moldovan sunt Părinții Lindei, care i-au oferit dragoste și libertatea de a deveni ea însăși, așa minunată pentru mire cum e, și acum sunt fericiți că și-a găsit perechea.
Marian Harkin este Mama lui John, care împreună cu tatăl său, când a fost printre noi, a făcut o treabă minunată crescându-l pe mire, special pentru mireasă puternic, iubitor și, cum spun unii, un bun bucătar.

Once upon a time
We would like to tell you a story on 21st September 2025, and it goes like this…
Once upon a time in a land called Romania, there was Linda… she grew up in a mountain area, with dense forests and beautiful traditions. She spent most of that time in Baia Mare and studied in Cluj. Then she moved to Brussels, where she was working, traveling, and sowing the seeds of her future.
Once upon a time in a land called Ireland, there was John… he grew up near the ocean, in a place infused with music and stories. His life began in Manorhamilton and Sligo, then moving on to Dublin for studies. He ultimately went to Brussels, where he found his passion for politics, working hard, and finding himself along the way.
Brussels… is where we have built our lives, careers, created our homes, made friends and it is where life happened to both of us… in waves!
We had always had common friends and intersecting paths, but it took the time it did to get to where we are now. We first met around 12 years ago in the corridors of Brussels, but it was a wee bit too early. Then, sometime later, we finally met again, in the right place and at the right time. It took us half a lifetime to grow and become who we are to each other. Once there, the most beautiful and fulfilling period of our lives began, and we are so happy to celebrate it with you at our wedding.
Family and friends have always been a core part of both of our lives, and uniting them makes it even better. So, with all of you around us, gracing us with your presence from all over the world, we hope our wedding will be big, loud, emotional and fun!
A fost o dată ca niciodată
Vom spune o poveste pe 21 septembrie și ea suna așa…
Odată ca niciodată, într-un târam numit România, a fost Linda… crescând într-o zonă de munte, cu păduri dense și tradiții frumoase. A petrecut majoritatea acelei perioade în Baia Mare și a studiat în Cluj. Apoi s-a mutat la Bruxelles, lucrând, călătorind și țesând- și viitorul.
Odată ca niciodată, într-un târâm numit Irlanda, a fost John… crescând lângă ocean, într-un loc impregnat de muzică și povești. Viața lui a început în Manorhamilton și Sligo, mutându-se apoi în Dublin pentru studii. În final, a mers la Bruxelles, descoperindu-și pasiunea pentru politică, lucrând și găsind-și drumul.
Bruxelles… este locul unde ne-am construit viețile, carierele, căminele, unde ne-am făcut prieteni și unde s-a întâmplat viața, pentru amândoi… în valuri!
Am avut întotdeauna prieteni comuni și drumuri intersectate, dar a fost necesar ceva timp să ajungem unde suntem acum. Ne-am întâlnit prima data acum 12 ani pe coridoarele Bruxelles-ului, dar a fost puțintel prea devreme. Apoi, ceva timp mai târziu, ne-am întâlnit în sfârșit, din nou, în locul potrivit și la timpul potrivit. Ne-a trebuit o jumătate de viață să creștem și să devenim ceea ce suntem unul pentru celălalt. Odată ce am ajuns acolo, a început cea mai frumoasă și împlinită perioada din viețile noastre și suntem atât de fericiți să sărbătorim asta cu voi, la nunta noastră!
Familia și prietenii au fost mereu o parte integranta din viețile noastre și acum, unindu-le, e un sentiment minunat. Deci cu voi toți in jur, voi care ne onorați cu prezenta din toate colțurile lumii, sperăm ca nunta noastră sa fie mare, gălăgioasă, emoțională și să ne distrăm!
